Are you more of a night or morning person?
I used to be able to be both but as I age I am tending to be more of a night person. Only because waking up seems to be getting more difficult.
I find that having insomnia seems to affect me more at night than any other time. I end up staying up an hour or two later than the previous night. Fortunately, I am on sleep aids at the moment. They seem to be helping my sleep stabilize a bit. I still have some difficulty falling asleep but it’s been helping over all. My sleep has gone from about four hours a night to six or seven hours a night.
I spoke with my doctor today. I should have asked for a few things from him but it was a new doctor today so I wasn’t exactly comfortable. One of them is to perhaps increase the dosage of the sleep aid. I only say that because it seems that it’s becoming less effective. I don’t know if that’s a thing that happens with trazodone. I think it’s just because I’ve been napping during the day.
Today was quite busy so I didn’t get the opportunity to nap. I’m pretty tired right now despite having drank some coffee in group. Even with the caffeine I know I’ll still be able to sleep tonight. Now the trick is timing it right. I don’t want to go to bed too early and want to avoid staying up past the effects of my sleep meds.
Mornings are hard I think because of my age but also because I’m a recovering meth addict. When you use meth it’s such a strong stimulant that it screws up your typical circadian rhythm. Not that mine had been any good to begin with.
I have a lot working against me. But I have determination and perseverance on my side. Patience and persistence will get you through nearly any hurdle. I’ve learned that in my short time on this planet. I think I have to make that my mantra again.
