Name an attraction or town close to home that you still haven’t got around to visiting.
I’ve spent the better part of today trying to decide on which attraction I was going to write about. While there are a lot of attractions in Wisconsin, I’ve been to quite a few of them. Only one comes to mind and you’re going to laugh when you hear it. It’s so cliche, but I’d like to go to Simon’s Specialty Cheese Store.
It’s very close to where I live. I’m sure that I’ve eaten their cheese from the grocery store. But, everyone speaks so highly about it and every time I go past the store the parking lot is completely full. I would like to see what all of the hubbub is about.
I would like to see if they have jalapeno flavored cheese curds. If you’re unfamiliar with what a cheese curd is, you’re missing out. When they’re fresh, they squeak on your teeth. You can also get them breaded and deep fried, which is probably my favorite way to eat them. They’re akin to a mozzarella stick, only they’re made of cheddar cheese.
There are a lot of places in Wisconsin that sell the deep fried versions. Culver’s, which is a fast food restaurant serves them with regular cheddar and white cheddar. Their breading is pretty good too. I think my favorite place to get deep fried cheese curds is probably either Tom’s Drive-in or JD’s Drive-in. Those are both local to Wisconsin. Tom’s has locations all over while JD’s only has one location, in Appleton, WI. Both of these drive-in have the best drive-in burgers around because they’re grilled. They also give heaping size portions of sides. Just thinking about them is making me hungry.
Anyways, it’s been a busy day for me. I’ll hopefully have more time to blog about everything later.

I love cheese too; only I prefer reduced fat brands.
Goddamn, I haven’t seen a drive-in in forever. It’s great that there’s still a few here and there around the country.
Sounds like one heck of a shop. You should hit it up!
