If there was a biography about you, what would the title be?
Today has been a very busy day, and it’s not over yet. So, you’ll have to excuse me because I used ChatGPT to help me brainstorm titles for my book. I like this one, “Fragments of Myself: A Journey through Mental Illness, Addiction, and Self-Discovery” or, another good one would be “Chasing Shadows: A Memoir of Addiction, Mental Illness, and Finding Light in Darkness.”
Both of these titles, while dark sounding, convey a lot of the struggles I faced in my life. Here’s a brief synopsis of the book:
In ‘Fragments of Myself: A Journey through Mental Illness, Addiction, and Self-Discovery,’ author Justin Stanelle invites readers on a raw and riveting journey through the tumultuous landscapes of addiction, mental illness, and self-discovery. From the immersive realms of online gaming to the dizzying haze of bars and clubs, the narrative chronicles the author’s tumultuous path, marked by the highs of virtual victories and the lows of real-world battles with addiction and mental health disorders.
As a young gay man grappling with Borderline Personality Disorder, PTSD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and Major Depressive Disorder, Justin Stanelle bares his soul with unflinching honesty, exploring the complexities of identity, relationships, and resilience. Through candid reflections on the challenges of love, the shadows of addiction, and the pursuit of healing, the author offers a beacon of hope for readers navigating their own struggles.
‘Fragments of Myself’ is more than a memoir—it’s a testament to the power of vulnerability, self-acceptance, and the unwavering human spirit. With courage and compassion, Justin Stanelle illuminates the path from darkness to light, inspiring readers to embrace their truths and embark on their own transformative journeys.
Despite the book being about very dark aspects of my life, I think it would be helpful to those who are experiencing similar circumstances, which if my guestimate is correct, it’s a lot of people. I should probably get started on writing it because it would not only benefit me in a cathartic sense, but it would benefit others. Oh, and the profits from the sales would be nice, of course. I just wish that I was better at organizing my thoughts. My memory is pretty weak, so I would have to do a lot of searching through my cluttered mind in order to get the memories I need in order to write.
As I stated earlier, today is a busy day and there is more that I need to get done. So, I don’t know if I have much more time than this to write on this topic. I’ve already spoken about writing a book in previous posts, and I’m sure I’ll continue to write about it. Now, it’s just managing to find the inspiration, motivation, and determination to follow through on it.
In the meantime, feel free to leave a comment and share your thoughts on the titles for my book, or any suggestions you may have come up with while reading the synopsis. Otherwise, if you’re curious to hear more stories from my past, let me know and I’ll write a blog post sharing them.
Take care.
