The name “Justin” has its origins in the Latin name “Justinus,” which is a derivative of “Justus.” The Latin word “Justus” means “just,” “fair,” or “righteous.” This name was common among early Christians, being used by several saints and martyrs. Over time, it evolved into various forms in different languages, leading to the modern English version “Justin.” The name became popular in the English-speaking world in the latter half of the 20th century.
My mother chose the name Justin. She chose my twin sister’s name, Amanda as well. She used the same method for choosing both names. She consulted a baby naming book in the year that we were born, choosing the most popular names at the time.
That’s it, there’s no great story behind how I got my name. My mother reserved her creativity for the garden. She had a green thumb and was blessed when it came to cultivating plants. In another life, I think she could have been a really good botanist.
