An Epic Night in GTA: Adventures, Exploits, and Real-life Reflections

My night of no sleep is going pretty well. We didn’t get the fart rocket in GTA yet, but we upgraded the nightclub by buying the CEO office, so the nightclub will generate more money. I’m currently AFK’ing at the casino. In case anyone is unfamiliar with the gaming lingo, “AFK” means “Away from keyboard” it’s short for running the game, but not actively playing it. It’s good for situations that require a lot of real-life time to do. For example, the nightclub and bunker generate money over time, but you have to be logged into the game for the time to count. So, we found an exploit where if you sit at the horse race betting machine, and just sit at this one screen, you can go AFK without the game timing you out. This allows me to generate income without having to actively play the game for the time that it takes. We’re hoping to have full income from both the bunker and the nightclub by sunrise.

Most of the night, we spent doing trucking missions. My friend was driving the semi in this video, he has a real knack for getting us stuck in horrible situations and then needing help to get out of the situation.

In the game, you can go inside some of the buildings, like gas stations and ammunition stores. I was taking a look around a gas station and noticed that they keep the frozen vegetables and milk together in one freezer. Doesn’t make much sense to me, but then again it’s just a game, right? There are a lot of inconsistencies like this within the game that when you examine them on a deeper level can kind of break the immersion of the game.

In these photos, I broke someone’s window to steal their car but my friend said he was going to pick me up. I felt bad for breaking the NPCs (non-player character) window, so I told my friend I was writing a note for their insurance claim. LOL

There are a lot of parts of GTA that are realistic, yet sad at the same time, especially beyond all the crime. For instance, in this picture, a homeless man is lying in an alley behind my nightclub. In the game, I’m a millionaire but seemingly have no way of giving him money, or at least, I don’t think so. This certainly enhances the immersion because Los Santos is modeled after Los Angeles, which faces a significant epidemic of unhoused individuals. It’s somewhat reflective of my own struggles in real life, reminding me of the future and how relieved I’ll feel once my living situation is resolved. Perhaps then, I can contribute to helping those who are unhomed.

Here’s a beautiful scene I captured while waiting around for my friend. I thought it would be nice enough to share, and was thinking about how beautiful a painting of this scene would be. Below are some images inspired by this screenshot but created by Dall•E.

Also, another interesting feature of the game is the internet browser. While it doesn’t connect to the actual internet, there are a lot of satirical websites on it that one can find. Here’s a slideshow featuring some of the funny ones I found while my friend was driving the truck doing trucking missions.

My friend also did a stunt jump, I think it’s called. Anyways, there’s a certain number of them that you can do around the map to get RP (Rank Points) which will help you rank up. I just got to Rank 100 tonight, which is a milestone. It means most of the game is unlocked. The entire game will be unlocked at 120. Following the video of the stunt jump, I’ll post the video in which I ranked up to 100 from doing a trucking mission.

Here are some screenshots I didn’t share yet, but thought were nice. I thought it was really irresponsible of whatever NPCs that were on the beach to desert a live fire, but I suppose being surrounded by sand would prevent it from spreading much. Still, unadviseable.

Oh, and here’s one last video of my friend lifting me up on the wing of his jet plane, and then I slide off. Fortunately, he was high enough off the ground to activate my parachute. I didn’t quite hit the mark while landing, you’ll see. I was hoping it would have caught more of me being on the plane, but I think the funniest part is caught so that’s alright.

I think that’s it for now, drop a comment and let me know whether or not you find these gaming updates enjoyable. I find them very helpful for keeping my mind off of my struggles, and figure it’s something to share with everyone while my life is pretty dull.

Take care.
